Type 27 Grinding Wheel for 4-1/2 in. angle grinders, a heavy-duty depressed-center aluminum oxide grinding wheel for aggressive material removal, weld dressing, and surface preparation on steel and ferrous metal. Its heavy-duty 1/4 in. thickness carries more abrasive mass than the standard 1/8 in. grinding wheel, giving longer wheel life in the most demanding grinding work: sustained heavy weld bead removal, large bevel grinding on thick plate, and aggressive stock removal where a thinner wheel would wear too fast for economical production grinding. Aluminum oxide abrasive gives the cutting aggressiveness and controlled wear rate suited to ferrous metal grinding, where keeping a fresh, sharp abrasive surface through the grinding cycle produces a consistent material removal rate.
